Sitges, a commitment to tranquillity near Barcelona

Sitges, located 38 km from Barcelona, is the perfect place if you want to live in a quiet place that is half an hour from the big city. In addition to its location between the Mediterranean and the mountains of Garraf, make this place very special.

Why Sitges?

The beaches of Sitges are the most famous on the Catalan coast. Among them is the beach of Sant Sebastia, which is recognized as the best beach in Europe by New York Magazine.

In addition, the city overflows with cultural activity. At carnival time (February / March) you can enjoy crazy nights and admire the cavalcade that runs through the streets of the city. In autumn the city hosts the International Fantastic Film Festival of Catalonia, where lovers of this genre can enjoy the latest releases.

How is the real estate market?

The price per square meter was in May of this year at € 4,200, with Sitges being one of the most expensive urban areas in Spain.

As it regards foreigners, according to Nuria Mir Sitges real estate agency Houses “80% of sales are to foreigners, among which the English, French, German, Russian and Dutch”. The agent also added that “the beach area is the most expensive while the area close to the mountains and the outskirts are the cheapest of the city”. The total price of the floors oscillates between 300.000-1.000.0000 €.

Where would you like to live?

Sitges, which has nearly 30,000 inhabitants, is a small town which is very easy to walk anywhere, so all the basic services are less than 15 minutes away.

The centre of the city is full of shops. In addition, you can do all kinds of activities and cultural offer is very wide.

“Sant Sebastia”, as mentioned before, has one of the best beaches in Europe. It is the perfect place for those who seek to be in the village, with one foot in the centre and another in the port, with all the services and cultural and recreational offers at hand.

“Aiguadolç”, which is the port area, has small apartments with spectacular sea views.

Poble Sec neighbourhood, located in the centre and only minutes from the beach, is a great choice for families.

Terramar is an exclusive green neighbourhood and close to the sea. In this area, you can find apartments and villas with garden. This area, which was built in the early twentieth century, was designed to become the Catalan Nice.

Getting around in Sitges

Although it is very easy to reach any point walking or cycling, the city has three bus lines.

Sitges also has a train station. You can reach the centre of Barcelona in 40 minutes and the frequency of the trains is about 10-20 minutes. The Catalan capital can also be reached by road or motorway. Barcelona’s El Prat Airport is less than 30 km away.
